Taking an internship with TakingITGlobal (TIG) has unequivocally been a unique experience. At your standard internship, you might need to show up by 9am, and getin trouble for being a few minutes late. At TIG, you can show up between 9:30-10:30 (realistically, sometimes 11), and as long as you work an 8-hour day, everyone is cool with it. Such flexibility is rare to find in an office environment, and reflects how the forward thinking philosophy and approach of TIG is manifested in their office culture. Last week I had the opportunity to attend ‘Beyond 2015: Towards a New Consensus on Ending Global Poverty;’ a three-day international and interdisciplinary workshop at Ryerson University, in Toronto. And while there were many amazing, interesting and inspiring speakers, I really enjoyed listening to Dr. Joseph Wong, a Canada Research Chair and Professor of Political Science at the University of Toronto, and the Director of the Asian Institute at the Munk School of Global Affairs.
